This month the belles are delving into the Biblical story of Dinah, the daughter of Jacob. It's a very interesting choice for the Belles and should lead to major discussions on parenting, women in society, and even, you guessed it, religion. I don't see us casting this one, but you never know. I mean hollywood did put out a moving about the story of Easter.
I guess we should go ahead and cast Mel Gibson as producer. He's got the experience for religious movies. And too bad we aren't in tune with the Bollywood actors, then we really would be able to cast it a lot easier!

To me THE most facinating thing about this book is the difference between the biblical account of Dina's life and the one presented in the Red Tent. I am a Christian and take the bible pretty literally, but this book opened my eyes to the fact that it was written by MEN and therefore will have patriarchal perceptions of reality. I totally believe that the account as described in the Red Tent could have happened as opposed to the way it was presented in the Bible. That is why I love it so much. It broadened my narrow mind.
