Fifty Shades of Grey - E.L. James

I struggle to admit that i read this book, but alas i did and quite frankly i enjoyed it. It is not a literary masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but the author never said it was nor thought it could be.  However, it is not exactly what i expected when it was touted as "mommy porn".  Grey is a hard core book, no pun intended, and reading it in public was a HARD LIMIT for me...

While casting this book was easy, we realize it's most likely going to find its way to late night Cinemax as oppose to the Big Screen and will not involve some of the higher level actors we have cast.  Granted, my girl, Celeste was dead on with Christian.  He took my breath away when i saw his picture; sort of made we want to change my name to Anatasia Steele, if only for a day or a couple of minutes but not in Seattle...

On to the good part:

Christian Grey - Jessie Pavelka

Anatasia Steele - Alexis Bledel

Kate - Leven Rambin

Jose - Taylor Lautner (maybe not Hispanic, but dark and hot and the right age)

Elliot - Ryan Gosling (i know, i know - but he is NOT Christian Grey, but could play more fun version of Christian and needs to be hot enough to pair with Kate)

Mrs. Robinson - Ellen Barkin

And if they do film in Hollywood (as oppose to the San Fernando Valley), i am so afraid they are going to try to make it funny with casting the inner goddess as Sofia Vergara who pops in Ana's head during the flirtatious exchanges.  PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT.

the Paris Wife - Paula Mclain

I am so behind, I am so behind, I am so behind and unfortunately I drink too much wine at book club and my scrapes of paper where I note our cast end up at the bottom of my giant bag never to be seen again.

We had a fantastic cast going for The Paris Wife.

Zooey Deschanel for Zelda

Matt Czuchry for Ernest Hemingway

But who in the heck was cast for Hadley? Emma Stone could do it, but she is in everything right now, plus i think the actor needs to be a bit softer around the edges than Stone. I'll dig deeper into my bag and see if anything emerges.
