"Love the One You're With" by Emily Giffin

Kelly G. continued the trend of Emily Giffin novels in August. We were still capivated by Giffin's writing style and honesty. We all fell in love with Andy and because of all of the conversations that stirred around the book, we never made it to the casting segment.

We will gather our thoughts over the next couple of weeks on the blog and we will finalize and publish shortly.

The Cast
Ellen - Jennifer Gardner
Andy - Jude Law
Leo - Bradley Cooper (we are struggling with who is Dex and who is Leo)
Margot- Reece Witherspoon
Ellen's Sister - Marisa Tomei
Andy's Mom - Kelly Bishop (gilmore girls mom/grandmother)

Belles, what do you think????

I have no comments yet about the cast for this book, but I want to go on the record saying that I was torn the entire time between Leo and Andy. There were even moments when I wanted to scream, "Run, don't walk back to Leo!" I had to miss book club that night, so I couldn't express my conflict between the two men. Actually, that was the only intelligent thing I said to EG in person. I commented that the point of the book is that you can love both of them simultaneously. Ellen doesn't write to Leo that she will love him forever when she send the photos from Coney Island, even though it is true. The beauty of the book, and the refreshing comment on life, for me, is that love really is the sum of all our decisions, all our loves. We cannot escape the feelings we have, but we try to make the right decisions for the lifestyle we want to cherish.

Casting ideas for "Love": Jennifer Garner, Ellen; Jude Law, Andy (Can you belles think of another perfect dude? This one is difficult, but Jude Law can be perfect and hot at the same time -- see the film "Holiday," and I think he can be Reese's brother); Reese Witherspoon, Margot (I know . . . when in doubt go with the obvious choice); Collin Farrell, Leo (irresistible). That is all I have for now.

While I realize I'm not a member of "the belles" I read this blog with interest because my dear friend and neighbor Stephenie writes it and I always enjoy the books she recommends. I love Katie's suggestions for the cast with the exception of Leo. I would love to see Ruful Sewell in that role, especially if we could go back to 2001 Rufus when he played Count Adlehemar in A Knight's Tale. He was young, dark and brooding. I suppose that is how I imagined Leo. Andy is such an optimist and full of light and goodness.. ala Jude Law. I think the thing that continued to draw Ellen back to Leo was the "heat" or danger, perhaps a bit of bad boy brooding. Who ISN'T drawn to the bad boy from time-to-time? But live with one forever? I'm not sure that'd work out!
