QUICK BELLES - Katie M. found out that Hilary Swank bought the movie rights for Something Borrowed and Something Blue. We need to get our cast together so we can compare to what Swank puts together. And unless she gains 40 pounds or loses her poise, then she can't be Rachel or Darcy...
Katie and I were talking and thought we would add some options for us to ponder.

Dex - Jasion Lewis only because he is younger than Patrick Dempsey
Marcus - Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Denny from Grey's)
Ethan - Adrian Grenier
Hillary - Janeane Garafalo
Claire - Emily Blount (probably too obvious)
Geoffrey - Pierce Brosnan

I don't want to give too much away because I know many of you have not read both of these. I cannot think of anyone for Darcy, but I think Drew Barrymore or Rachel McAdams would work beautifully for Rachel. Dex is tough. I read somewhere that EG herself thought McDreamy would be perfect. He would be, but he is a little older. Celeste reminded me that we don't have to get the age exactly right, with which I agree, but the girls have to be close to 30 since the important juncture plays a major role in the novels. As I said in our email exchange, I am not budging on Adrian Grenier for Ethan, but you have to read both books before commenting on that. Also, let me note that I frequently give in on my choices, so I deserve a couple of picks without question.
What about Jennifer Garner or Keira Knightley for Darcy???? Keira is just plan hot and if you think of her personality in "Love Actually" i think she could do it.
Dex was a lot older than everyone else. I was thinking McSteamy over McDreamy. Dempsey always seems to be on the short side. How about Clive Owen?
i went to see Bottle Shock tonight. Check out Eliza Baskhu on imdb. i like her as darcy. she was in "bring it on"...
I finished the books!!!! Adrian, really???? I can see that, but Ethan had lighter hair and i didn't imagine him that skinny, but the idea is really growing on me.
I still think we could clean up Collin Ferrell for Dex.
Here are my thoughts at this point. I think Hilary Swank will end up playing Rachel because she bought the rights. That's works for me . . . sort of. I really like Steph's suggestion (via phone) about Jessica Biel for Darcy. There is no one hotter that Jessica Biel, and I think she can pull off the extreme transformation Darcy makes in "Blue." I am stuck on Rachel McAdams for Rachel. She can be smart and beautifully imperfect as well. I have a serious girl crust on Keira Knightly, but I am not sure about her for Darcy . . . maybe. I don't like McSteamy in general. I think he is shallow, but I have seen too many interviews of the real guy. I say we save Jennifer Garner for Ellen (see "Love" comment). Collin Farrell is too dirty for Dex, even with cleaning, but I think he might work for Leo. We need more suggestions for Dex. He has to be almost perfect. I still vote Adrian Grenier for Ethan (even though he is dark), but I'll take Ryan Phillippe or Jude Law too. I can't wait to see who they really cast. I wonder if EG knows . . . We get frustrated when the Hollywood people don't get it right. Can you imagine how the writer must feel? You imagine Bono and they make him Dave Matthews . . . he he he.
I am feeling a little Mandy Moore as a good Rachel also....still not feeling Darcy, she is so hard to cast b/c of the complexity of her character. In my head I am casting this movie with actors older than me. I like Pierce Brosnan for the doctor and I am still pulling for Harry Connick Jr to be cast (although I cast him in every book). I think he fits the role of Dex!
OH...and how about Zach Braff for Ethan...anyone, anyone?????

OK, me again.....No way Collin Ferrell be in a EG book...he is too dirty, smoky and rough around the edges. I also agree with Katie that McSteamy is not a good choice...great for Grey's but not good enough for Blue or Borrowed. I am sticking by HC jr for Dex...did you all think of me as Darcy and Ethan were listening to HCjr over the holidays, I will be firing up my cd's in Oct to get X-Mas started early.
OK, love Jessica Beil or my new choice, KATE BECKINSALE!!!!! She is fabulous...and we can throw in an accent in the end, tell me you love her!
